This type of research is qualitative with a case study approach and data collection techniques of non-participant observation, structured and unstructured interviews, and documentation. The data analysis method is guided by Miles and Huberman's qualitative data analysis techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research was conducted in three kindergartens in West Semarang District with the number of research participants 9 children and 3 teachers of class b. The results showed that parental divorce can cause a child's self-confidence crisis which is characterized by withdrawn behavior, feeling shy or not confident when appearing in public, and lack of interaction with peers. By providing maximum support from the family environment, school environment, and the surrounding environment can minimize the impact of parental divorce. This study recommends collaboration between parents and teachers in creating a supportive environment for children after divorce.
Shelly Novita Sari Yuli Kurniawat Sugiyo Pranoto Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Buah Hati 2025-09-30 2025-09-30 12 2 110 122 10.46244/buahhati.v12i2.3330 STIMULATING EARLY CHILDHOOD CREATIVITY WITH SIMPLE EXPERIMENTAL METHODS https://ejournal.bbg.ac.id/buahhati/article/view/3404
Creativity is a person’s competence in producing a new breakthrough, both in terms of ideas and tangible works, that has uniqueness compared to old findings. This research is intended to objectively describe the application of experimental methods as a means to stimulate the creativity of young learners at TK IT Nurul Ilmi. The type of research used in this study is field research with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data in this research were collected through three main techniques: observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this research are early childhood children aged 5 to 6 years located in the Science Centre at TK IT Nurul Ilmi. This study involved 18 students who were purposively selected, with additional data from two informants, namely the class teacher and the supporting teacher. The results of the analysis are reported in narrative form. The data analysis began with the collection of all data, followed by reduction, presentation, and finally verification. The truth of the data in this research was tested using triangulation techniques, namely by utilising various sources and applying different methods. The types of experimental activities include solar eclipse experiments, colour diffusion experiments, salt evaporation experiments, and secret message experiments. The findings of this study indicate that the use of simple experimental methods as a stimulus for the creativity of early childhood at TK IT Nurul Ilmi can enhance children’s thinking skills, creativity, curiosity, and imagination.
Martini Martini Masganti Sitorus Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Buah Hati 2025-09-30 2025-09-30 12 2 123 135 10.46244/buahhati.v12i2.3404 IMPROVING STUDENTS' LITERACY SKILLS THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT OF A PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING MODEL BASED ON HOTS https://ejournal.bbg.ac.id/buahhati/article/view/3452
The low achievement of Indonesian students in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) highlights the need for innovative learning models that not only emphasize cognitive aspects but also foster students’ character development. This study aims to develop a Problem Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and character education to improve the literacy skills of elementary school students. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE development model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The study involved 28 fourth-grade students. The research instruments included validation sheets, observation sheets, student and teacher response questionnaires, and literacy tests covering reading, numeracy, science, and digital literacy. The results indicate that the learning model was considered highly valid with an average validation score of 88.5%. The implementation of the PBL-HOTS-Character model significantly improved students’ literacy skills with an average score of 87.5, consisting of reading literacy (88), numeracy (85), science literacy (87), and digital literacy (90). Students’ character education also improved with an average score of 73.4. The two-way ANOVA analysis revealed that the learning model, character education, and their interaction had a significant effect on students’ literacy, with a determination coefficient of 66.1%. In conclusion, the PBL model integrated with HOTS and character education is effective in enhancing literacy skills while strengthening students’ character. This model is highly relevant to support the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and the realization of the Pancasila Student Profile.
Amir Danis Nur Tri Julia Zulfi Maulida Nabila Nabila Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Buah Hati 2025-09-30 2025-09-30 12 2 136 149 10.46244/buahhati.v12i2.3452 INTEGRATION OF PROBLEM-SOLVING AND ETHNOMATHEMATICS APPROACHES TO ENHANCE STUDENTS’ MATHEMATICAL REPRESENTATION ABILITY https://ejournal.bbg.ac.id/buahhati/article/view/3454
Mathematical representation ability is one of the fundamental skills needed by students to understand concepts and solve mathematical problems. However, the results of the study indicate that this ability is still low in most elementary school students. This study aims to develop a mathematics learning tool based on the Problem Solving approach and integrated with Ethnomathematics to improve students' mathematical representation ability. The study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the Plomp development model consisting of three phases, namely initial research, development, and assessment. The research subjects were 30 students. The research instruments included validation sheets, teacher assessment sheets, student response sheets, implementation observation sheets, and mathematical representation ability tests (pre-test and post-test). The results showed that the developed learning tool met practical criteria with an average LKPD readability of 4.60 (very good category) and learning implementation of 94.5% (very good category), and was effective with an increase in the average pre-test score of 56.20 to a post-test of 83.87 and a gain score of 0.63 (medium-high category). Thus, there was a significant increase in the average post-test results of students' mathematical representation abilities, namely 83.87 through Problem Solving and Ethnomathematics-based learning devices.
Tesi Kumalasari Amir Danis Christian Sinaga Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Buah Hati 2025-09-30 2025-09-30 12 2 150 163 10.46244/buahhati.v12i2.3454 TRANSFORMATION OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION IN THE DIGITAL AGE: THE ROLE OF TEACHERS IN BUILDING EARLY LITERACY IN YOUNG CHILDREN https://ejournal.bbg.ac.id/buahhati/article/view/3480
The transformation of learning in Early Childhood Education (PAUD) in the digital age requires a paradigm shift in the teaching and learning process. Teachers are no longer the sole source of information, but rather act as facilitators who utilize technology to create interactive and meaningful learning experiences for children. This study aims to describe the transformation of early childhood education in the digital age and examine the role of teachers in optimizing early literacy development in young children. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation studies at three early childhood education institutions in Banda Aceh. The results of the study show that digital learning transformation in early childhood education is realized through the use of interactive media such as educational videos, children's literacy applications, and digital communication with parents. Teachers play an important role in designing digital-based literacy activities that still pay attention to the principles of developmentally appropriate practice (DAP). In addition, it was found that teachers' digital literacy competencies are a major factor in the success of improving children's early literacy skills, particularly in letter and word recognition and language skills. However, challenges such as limited resources, teacher training, and education policy remain obstacles to implementation. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that the transformation of early childhood education in the digital era requires policy support, strengthening of teacher competencies, and collaboration between educational institutions and parents. Optimizing the role of teachers is key to building a foundation for children's early literacy that includes not only reading and writing skills, but also digital literacy and critical thinking from an early age.
Helnita Helnita Raudha Meutia Ridha Miharti Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Buah Hati 2025-09-30 2025-09-30 12 2 164 179 10.46244/buahhati.v12i2.3480
