PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA PADA ANAK USIA 5 TAHUN MELALUI PERMAINAN SNAKE AND LADDER

Reading activity is one way for children to explore the knowledge needed for their success in completing the task at the next level of education. This study aims to determine the ability of reading in children aged 5 years through snake and ladder games in PAUD institutions with the number of respondents 10 children. This research is an action research using observation in the form of field notes and interviews. This study was conducted in 2 cycles consisting of 8 meetings in the initial cycle and 4 repetitions in the 2nd cycle. Analysis of reading research can be done through the game of snake and ladder performed with five stages, namely: 1) recognize letters, 2) read syllables and words, 3) read by spell syllable word, 4) slow reading without tone, and 5) read smoothly shows that 80% of children can read fluently and only 20% of the number of children who occasionally need the help of teachers in reading fluently. The activity of reading through the game of snake and ladder makes children learn to read and able to read without them knowing and without coercion because reading activities are wrapped with interesting and fun games performed while playing. In addition, the findings in this study prove that snake and ladder become one of the creative game media that can be modified to develop all aspects of child intelligence.
Abstrak
Aktivitas membaca merupakan salah satu jalan bagi anak untuk merambah ilmu pengetahuan yang dibutuhkan untuk keberhasilan mereka dalam menyelesaikan tugas di jenjang pendidikan selanjutnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan membaca pada anak usia 5 tahun melalui permaianan snake and ladder di lembaga PAUD dengan jumlah responden 10 anak. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan dengan menggunakan observasi dalam bentuk catatan lapangan dan wawancara. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam 2 siklus yang terdiri dari 8 kali pertemuan di siklus awal dan 4 kali pengulangan di siklus ke-2. Analisis dapatan penelitian membaca melalui permainan snake and ladder yang dilakukan dengan lima tahapan, yaitu: 1) mengenal huruf, 2) Membaca suku kata dan kata, 3) Membaca dengan mengeja silabel kata, 4) Membaca lambat tanpa nada, dan 5)Membaca lancar menunjukan bahwa 80% anak dapat membaca lancar dan hanya 20% dari jumlah anak yang sesekali perlu bantuan guru dalam membaca lancar. Aktivitas membaca melalui permainan snake and ladder menjadikan anak belajar membaca dan mampu membaca tanpa mereka sadari dan tanpa paksaan sebab kegiatan membaca dibungkus dengan permainan yang menarik dan menyenangkan yang dilakukan sambil bermain. Selain itu, temuan dalam penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa snake and ladder menjadi salah satu media permainan kreatif yang dapat dimodifikasi untuk mengembangkan seluruh aspek kecerdasan anak.
