Total Physical Respon (TPR) adalah sebuah metode pemebajaran yang diperkenalkan pada tahun 1980. Metode ini digunakan untuk merangsang siswa atau pembelajar bahasa asing untuk mengingat kosa kata melalui rangsangan gerakan. Metode ini mempunyai prinsip belajar melalui gerakan tubuh. Pada saat guru menginstruksikan dengan kata-kata siswa merespon dengan gerakan begitu pun sebaliknya ketika siswa sudah lancar mengikuti metode tersebut. Metode ini merefleksikan grammar based view of languagejuga dikaitkan dengan trace theory yang menununjkan bahwa semakin sering memori digunakan lebih intensif maka semakin kuat asosiasi memory dan semakin mudah dalam proses pemanggilan. Penggunaan TPR di kelas dapat digunakan untuk melatih kosa kata bahasa kedua atau asing khususnya pada kata kerja, tata bahasa bentuk sekarang maupun lampau, kelas bahasa, perintah dan bercerita. Keberhasilan dalam menggunakan metode dalam mengajar sangat dipengaruhi oleh bagaiamana guru mengkondisikanya dalam kelas.
