ANALYSIS OF STUDENT INTEREST AND ATTENDANCE IN BOYS' EXTRACURRICULAR FUTSAL AT SMP NEGERI 10 PONTIANAK

This study aimed to describe male students' interest in the futsal extracurricular program at SMP Negeri 10 Pontianak and to compare it with their actual attendance over one semester (32 sessions). A quantitative descriptive survey with total sampling of 40 students was used. Interest was measured with a 20-item Likert-scale questionnaire covering attention, enjoyment, personal interest, the role of the coach, facilities and infrastructure, and family support; attendance was obtained from attendance records. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Twenty-six students (65%) were in the high (47.5%) or very high (17.5%) interest categories. The coach (78.8%) and facilities (76.4%) indicators had the highest percentages. Mean attendance was 88% in the very high interest group, 87.3% in high, 70.3% in moderate, 49.5% in low, and 49% in very low. The instrument met validity and reliability criteria (Cronbach's alpha = 0.928). The novelty of this study lies in combining interest scores with actual attendance data for each interest category. The patterns found are descriptive and do not indicate causal relationships.
