Abstract

Linguistik merupakan suatu ilmu yang  bahasa secara ilmiah atau ilmu tentang bahasa. Kata Linguistik berasal dari kata Latin “lingua” (bahasa), kata latin itu masih kita jumpai dalam banyak bahasa yang berasal dari bahasa Latin misalnya Prancis (langue, langage), Itali (linggua), Spanyol (lengua), dan dahulu pernah bahasa Inggris meminjam dari bahasa Prancis kata yang sekarang berbunyi “Language”. Bentuk Indonesia dari istilah tersebut ialah Linguistik. Ilmu linguistik sering juga disebut linguistic umum artinya linguistic tidak hanya menyelidiki suatu langue tertentu tanpa memperhatikan ciri-ciri bahasa lain.
