Knee pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints in the community, with knee osteoarthritis (OA) being the most frequent cause, particularly among the elderly. In Neuhuen Village, many elderly residents work in manual labor sectors that carry a high risk of knee pain, yet access to non-pharmacological therapies—such as acupuncture—remains limited. Acupuncture is a form of traditional medicine long practiced in China that has now gained widespread acceptance in many countries, including Indonesia, as part of complementary and alternative healthcare services. The acupuncture therapy was administered by practitioners who had undergone formal education and specific training for this community service initiative. The results showed that the community was highly enthusiastic and benefited significantly from the event, with some participants even requesting follow-up sessions. These findings lead to the conclusion that acupuncture is an effective complementary therapy for knee pain.
