PELEVELAN PENALARAN ALJABAR SISWA DALAM MEMECAHKAN MASALAH MATEMATIKA BERBASIS TAKSONOMI STRUCTURE OF THE OBSERVED LEARNING OUTCOME (SOLO)

Abstract

Reasoning is a competency that students must possess and being one of the goals of the education curriculum in Indonesia.  this ability important to developing through algebraic reasoning. However, the ability of algebraic reasoning is not appropriate, so it is urgent to do an algebraic reasoning level. The purpose of this study is to describe the level of students' algebraic reasoning abilities in solving mathematical problems based on the SOLO taxonomy. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Data retrieval is done by conducting tests of mathematical problems and interviews of research subjects. The subjects of this research are the students eighth grade of Secondary School in Banda Aceh. Problem solving identified and grouped according to predetermined indicators. The results of the research are the level of SOLO taxonomy of high ability students able to generalize patterns correctly and be able to reach the level of extended abstract. Medium ability students cannot generalize and only reach unistructural levels. This is indicated by the answers of students who only succeeded in guessing the relationship between numbers. Low ability students can only reach the unistructural level.

 

Abstrak

Penalaran merupakan kompetensi yang harus dimiliki siswa dan menjadi salah satu tujuan kurikulum pendidikan di Indonesia.  Kebutuhan akan kemampuan ini dikembangkan melalui penalaran aljabar. Namun, kemampuan penalaran aljabar belum tepat guna, sehingga sangatlah urgen untuk dilakukan pelevelan penalaran aljabar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan pelevelan kemampuan penalaran aljabar siswa dalam memecahkan masalah matematika berbasis pada taksonomi SOLO. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif.  Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan melakukan tes masalah matematika dan wawancara subjek penelitian. ssubjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII  SMP di Banda Aceh. Penyelesaian masalah kemudian diidentifikasi dan dikelompokkan sesuai dengan indikator yang telah ditetapkan. Hasil penelitian adalah level taksonomi SOLO siswa kemampuan  tinggi mampu melakukan generalisasi pola dengan benar dan mampu mencapai level extended abstract. Siswa kemampuan sedang tidak dapat melakukan generalisasi dan hanya mencapai level unistruktural. Hal ini ditandai dengan jawaban siswa yang hanya berhasil menduga hubungan antara bilangan. Siswa kemampuan rendah juga hanya dapat mencapai level unistruktural.
