Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to the Getsempena English Education Journal (GEEJ) undergo a rigorous peer-review process to uphold the journal’s academic quality and integrity. This process involves three main stages: initial editorial screening, double-blind peer review, and editorial decision-making.
Initial Review
Upon submission, manuscripts are first screened by the editorial team to assess their relevance, originality, and compliance with the journal’s scope, formatting requirements, and submission guidelines. A similarity check is conducted using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin) to identify potential cases of plagiarism or self-plagiarism. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s standards or exhibit a high level of textual similarity will be rejected at this stage and returned to the author(s) without external review.
Double-Blind Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are subjected to a double-blind peer review process, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two experts in the relevant field. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript’s scholarly merit, originality, clarity, coherence, and contribution to the discipline. They also assess adherence to ethical publication standards and check for potential redundancy with previously published work. The editorial team ensures that reviewers are free from conflicts of interest and that the review process remains objective and confidential.
Editorial Decision
Based on reviewers’ feedback and recommendations, the editor will render one of the following decisions: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject. In some instances, additional rounds of review may be necessary to reach a final decision. The final decision on a manuscript’s publication rests solely with the Editor-in-Chief, who may consult members of the Editorial Board when appropriate.
GEEJ enforces a strict policy against plagiarism and self-plagiarism. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all sources are properly cited and acknowledged. The peer-review process is a cornerstone of GEEJ’s commitment to academic excellence, aimed at ensuring the publication of high-quality, original contributions to the field of English Language Teaching.
